Since the conclusion of the era for her third studio album, The Pinkprint, it appears that Nicki Minaj is scaling back and even feeling a bit more charitable these days. Less than a month ago, Hip-Hop’s queen took to New York to join her fellow music industry peers for the Tidal x 10/20 concert that went on to raise one million dollars for the New World Foundation. Now, Nicki Minaj is lending her star power and voice to “Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America,” that is looking to raise awareness about the race issues and violence that continue to plague our communities and cities like Baltimore, Ferguson, and plenty of others across the nation. Along with other famous pals who are using their platforms to help shed light on these detrimental issues, Nicki Minaj took to the stage and recited one of Maya Angelou’s most famous poems, “Still I Rise.” Airing on November 20 at 8/7c. it’s always great to see celebrities using their platforms to speak out against issues that effect so many people across the world, including their fans.
