Michael B. Jordan’s production company, Endeavor Content has acquired film rights to the David Barclay Moore novel “The Stars Beneath Our Feet”. The Creed star will produce and direct the adaptation while the author, David Barclay will write the screenplay and be an executive producer. The novel was published by the Random House imprint Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers this past September.
Synopsis of the book:
It’s Christmas Eve in Harlem, but twelve-year-old Lolly Rachpaul and his mom aren’t celebrating. They’re still reeling from his older brother’s death in a gang-related shooting just a few months earlier. Then Lolly’s mother’s girlfriend brings him a gift that will change everything: two enormous bags filled with Legos. Lolly’s always loved Legos, and he prides himself on following the kit instructions exactly. Now, faced with a pile of building blocks and no instructions, Lolly must find his own way forward.
The move toward the directing chair comes at a great time for Jordan as an actor: He recently wrapped HBO’s adaptation of the Ray Bradbury classic Fahrenheit 451, as well as the Coogler-directed Black Panther for Marvel. Jordan is also expected to return as Creed in a sequel to Creed that will be directed by Sylvester Stallone.
Moore is the former communications coordinator for Harlem Children’s Zone, and The Stars Beneath Our Feet is his debut novel.
