With NBA free agency in full swing, Steph Curry signed a new contract with the Golden State Warriors that will pay him over $200 million in the next five years. After the contract details came out, LeBron James made sure to let everyone know that Curry wasn’t being overpaid. In fact, he believes Curry should make twice as much.
So tell me again why there’s a cap on how much a player should get?? Don’t answer that. Steph should be getting 400M this summer 5yrs. #JMTshttps://t.co/jMYfI0umWK

The tweet in which LeBron James was responding to discussed how much value the Golden State Warriors have gained since 2010 when the owner, Joe Lacob, bought the team. Steph Curry was drafted just one year before Lacob took over as owner. His last contract only paid him $44 million over four years, so this is quite the upgrade.
LeBron’s most recent contract paid him for three years and $100 million. He’s currently the highest paid player in the league; however, he is only making $5 million more than players like George Hill, Al Horford, and DeMar DeRozan. He is clearly worth more than that amount to the Cavaliers, so his stance on the top players being paid more is fair.
It will be awhile before the start of a new CBA since the league and players just agreed to a new one this season, so the league and players will have time to think about this if there are to be any changes made.
