According to Screen Daily, The Matrix star Keanu Reeves has just signed on to appear in the upcoming comedy series Swedish Dicks. The project marks the first original production from Viaplay, a Swedish online streaming service.
The starring cast of the show includes Peter Stormare, Swedish comedian Johan Glans, Vivian Bang, Felisha Cooper, Traci Lords, and Eric Roberts. Reeves is set to appear in several episodes as well.
Although the series is in work under a Swedish company, it will be in English, and the shooting is currently underway in Los Angeles. The project is currently scheduled for release exclusively on Viaplay in Fall. Screen Daily provides this synopsis for the series:
“Set in downtown LA, the 10-series stars Stormare as Ingmar, a former stunt man who is now working as a small-time private detective. A former DJ (Glans) partners with him in the PI firm.”
Reeves will portray Ingmar’s former stunt buddy, Tex. Screen Daily quoted Reeves saying this about the show:
“I love how progressive the whole show is. The scripts are amazing and it was great to have the opportunity to work with Peter Stormare again.”
The show is reportedly a mix of dark and light humor. Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, head of programming and content developent at MTG, has said that the show’s production has been seeing a lot of interest from international broadcast and TV companies.
