Things have been relatively quiet for Kanye West on the scene of solo music. Releasing his seventh studio album, The Life Of Pablo, just last year, it’s been a roller coaster ride of excitement regarding the project, since its release. For many, the release of TLOP was a headscratcher as the body of work remained a Tidal-exclusive. That was short lived as the controversial Mr. West then had his album released on all other supporting streaming services.
Having TLOP remain a stream-only album allowed Ye to keep creative control over the project as he sees fit. Providing some updates to certain songs along the way or even adding an update to the fan favorite ‘Wolves‘. Kanye West treated his ‘The Life of Pablo’ like an app in the app store.
While we all were too busy enjoying the project or criticizing him for his antics, it appears this worked out in his favor. Def Jam Records have announced that Kanye has made history with TLOP. In the tweet seen below, the album has achieved an RIAA platinum certification as the FIRST streaming-only album.
Congratulations!
