Say it ain’t so!
If new reports hold true, TIDAL is down one of its initial key players. Part of its reintroduction to the masses and revamp as the service we know it to be in 2017, JAY-Z help bring on many of his big name music industry peers as co-owners of platform. Having albums like Kanye’s The Life Of Pablo, Beyonce’s LEMONADE, and now JAY-Z’s 4:44, being key selling points for new subscribers, it’s being reported that some disagreement about money has caused Kanye West to split completely from the streaming service, according to TMZ.
Our sources say a month ago Kanye’s lawyer sent a letter to Tidal, saying the company was in breach and the contract was terminated. Over the next 2 weeks lawyers for both sides tried to resolve the conflict but failed. We’re told 2 weeks ago Kanye’s lawyer fired off a second letter declaring again the contract was over.
With reports also conveying that Kanye and his lawyers feel that TIDAL owes him over $3 million, due to the success of his The Life Of Pablo album for the service, along with exclusive music videos as agreed upon, TIDAL is in clear disagreement with the claims made and have worked to try to resolve the matter at hand. As Kanye’s actions came before the words JAY-Z fired off on his new “Kill Jay Z” cut, who knows how this will play out in regards to their personal relationship that many want to see mended.
All in all, we can only hope everything gets resolved in the best way possible. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with any and all aspects regarding this.
