If you need a perfect example of a record that pays respect to a friend who was taken too early, ‘Amazing’ is that example. Harlem’s own Jay Pres paved the way for himself, leading up to the release of this new single, by dropping his recent project ‘MAC’. MAC was dropped back in November 2016 and featured an array of freestyles and remixes, basically covering some of the hottest records out or favorites of his. The same was seen on his ‘Sephora’ mixtape which followed the same theme.
For his first offering of 2017, ‘Amazing’ is produced by Jay Pres and shows that he isn’t just a one trick pony. Displaying the hardships of growing up in Harlem, overcoming adversity and not falling to the streets as a statistic, Jay Pres is proving through his music he has a lot to live for. He doesn’t do it alone though.
Aligning himself with fellow Harlem rising star, Jus Smith, the two paint a perfect picture through two different perspectives. Shining light on a friend, Derek Edwards, who they both lost back in 2004 due to gun violence, Jus Smith as well has much to live for and that is showcased in his work. As you can see his recent ‘K-Walk‘ record and ‘Court Vision’ are both gaining the eyes and ears they deserve.
Listen to ‘Amazing’ below and I can almost assure you that there is a video on the way.
