Put J.R. Smith in front of a microphone and you know you’ll always get a straight answer, there’s no filter when the Knicks guard speaks. J.R. is set to make $2.8 million this coming season under the contract he signed during the off-season after opting out of his original one but Smith, who is coming back to New York for his first full season at Madison Square Garden, believes the franchise is getting a “bargain” with him this season.
“I think anything is a bargain with me, whether I’m playing for a dollar or $20 million it’s a bargain because I’m going to play hard no matter what,” Smith told SNY.tv. “No matter how much I get paid, it will never affect how hard I play and I think that should be thought about when people see me next year.”
Thoughts? Is he right?
