Not even a year old and J. Cole’s third album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive has proved to be perhaps J. Cole’s most respected and successful release. Being unleashed to the world on December 9, 2014, without no proper single, J. Cole made it very clear that he wanted this release to be all about the music and less about the campaign to push a commercially successful release. Opening at No. 1 with 375,000 copies sold, it was made clear early on that the public was more than here for the ‘No Role Modelz’ rapper. Fast-forward to September 2015 and as of September 3rd, J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive pushed an additional 6,000 copies to knock him over the million mark at 1.004 million. As he just wrapped a widely successful world tour and crushed the stage at Jay Z’s Made In America Festival, while commercial success wasn’t the aim, this comes as a well-earned bonus for one of Hip-Hop’s most humble act. Congratulations to J. Cole.
