It’s a cause for celebration, especially if you’re J. Cole and/or a fan of the work he’s put out to the world over the past several years. Just a little over a week ago, the rapper went on to release his fourth studio album, 4 Your Eyez Only, and the rest is history as fans have been fully engaged with the project ever since. Now, as the official first week numbers role in, Dreamville can add another win to their name as the rapper has made his debut at no. 1, as confirmed via Billboard.
Of J. Cole’s overall 492,000 unit start, 363,000 were in traditional album sales — the third-biggest weekly sales sum for a single album this year. Again, it trails only the arrivals of Views (852,000 sold in its first week) and Lemonade (a 485,000 sales launch).
Surely deserving, congratulations to J. Cole for earning his fourth no. 1 studio album of his career. While there hasn’t been any announced dates for an accompanying tour in support of the album, we can only hope that Cole has plans on bringing the album to stages across the world. While we wait, we’ll continue to enjoy the sounds of 4 Your Eyez Only.
