iLoveMakonnen is going about his self after leaving OVO Sound and eventually coming out to the public as gay. In a recent interview with The FADER, the ‘Tuesday’ singer gives us a look into his life. In addition to hearing about his new journey, Makonnen as well recounts his fallout with Drake.
Makonnen recalls of the time where Drake tries to fight him after the VMAs back in August. Since Makonnen hasn’t called out Drake by his name, he has thrown slick shots at the Canadian rapper. The former Drake collaborator tells The FADER what happened that night.

“It was in the middle of the goddamn afterparty at the Up&Down club. Everybody that was in there was in there. I’m in here around these Vanguard Awards and I’m accepted and I took pictures with Chainsmokers and G-Eazy and everybody and we all friends. And I’m here in the middle of the floor, no security, and they coming and I just step to the side and they see me and stop and the biggest motherfucker in the game goes, woo woo woo, “Next time I’ma fuck you up!”
And all security and everybody stop like, “What the fuck.” And the guys with me was like, “What you do?!”
Seems like the singer, who just smiled and didn’t say anything, didn’t want any trouble at all. He also insists that his Tim Westwood freestyle he did throwing shots at OVO Sound could have caused the fight. iLoveMakonnen continues to say that him and the OVO rapper never really were as close.
As a result, the singer has now seemed to have found peace in the situation with his move to Portland, Oregon. Makonnen wouldn’t mind another hit, but would also love to show off his other talents as well.
