Gucci teased the possibility of a movie based on the recently released book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, with this tweet back in mid-January. However, information other than the title was hard to come by. Thanks to a report from the Hollywood Reporter on Friday afternoon, the biopic of the Atlanta based author, is far more real than an idea hatched on Twitter. While there’s no information available about casting or a release date, we do know now that Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are leading the way on this project. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Eric Huggins are set to produce the film alongside executive producers, Todd Moskowitz and Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis himself.
The film is believed to address all aspects of Gucci Mane’s life including his battles with addictions, incarcerations, and rise to his success within entertainment. Fans will have to keep waiting to find out who may be playing Gucci himself. Could it be Gucci Mane playing himself? Who knows? It wouldn’t be his first acting effort. The Atlanta rapper has been featured in movies such as Spring Breakers and The Spot. Only time will tell how the film will turn out, but one thing is for certain. With this news, Gucci Mane has truly made it as an entertainment icon.
