The Los Angeles Rams took Greg Robinson with the second pick in the draft in 2014. Today, they’re trading him.
The Rams are sending offensive lineman Robinson to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 2018 sixth-round draft pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Lions lost a core piece in their offensive line when left tackle Taylor Decker went down with a shoulder injury. The Lions had decisions to make when they were told Decker would be out for 4-6 months.
Detroit needed another OT with injury to Taylor Decker and Rams were using OT Jamin Brown ahead of Greg Robinson. Thus, a trade.

Is this move worth talking about for Lions fans? Former offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz seems to think so.
If the @Lions in 2018 go left to right… Decker, Robinson, Glasgow, Lang and Wagner upfront… Potential top OL in league.

What the Lions teach upfront and their philosophy is a great fit for Robinson. Jump sets, ball out quick. They could use his run blocking

Robinson isn’t guaranteed the starting job at LT for the Lions after this move. The Lions also signed former Bills OL Cyrus Kouandijo today. Michael Rothstein, NFL reporter covering the Lions, tweeted this shortly after the trade.
So the Lions have added two guys to increase the LT competition in Greg Robinson & Kouandjio along with Cornelius Lucas, C. Robinson, Dahl

It may not have been the juiciest trade possible, but it’s a good move for the Lions without giving up too much.
