Tyler the Creator’s ready to show us how serious he is about his place in the fashion industry. On June 11th, his clothing line, Golf Wang, will debut it’s very first runway show at MADE LA. You may remember the initial coverage of Golf Wang last year. Since then, it’s been picked up by Zumiez and slowly creeping onto the streetwear scene. This show will potentially maximize Golf Wang’s stake in the industry.
Los Angeles has grown to be recognized as a connecting hub for fashion and music. MADE’s fashion event plans to put the spotlight on this. Golf Wang will follow Moschino for the two-day experience. How perfect is that? Moschino is a favorite amongst the most stylish in the music industry, from Katy Perry to A$AP Rocky. And in turn, the fashion world immensely influences music, with artists representing brands and creating their own. The lineup for MADE LA is just a small peek into the connection between music and fashion.
Tyler the Creator just wants a collection of garments that he likes to wear. Golf Wang is a direct emulation of his style and the people who share a similar penchant for brightly colored tees and caps. He made the decision to seize the opportunity for the exposure when MADE approached him. “I just figured, ‘Why not?’ Why not do something different? Not everybody in the upper fashion world is wearing all-black Saint Laurent pieces and is super pretentious. I want to show them a different world.”
MADE LA is scheduled for June 10th-11th at LA Live. Until then, you can catch Golf Wang available to shop on its online store.
