The wait is almost over as French Montana’s sophomore studio album ‘MC4’ is set to release this August 19th. Prior to the album we received such records like ‘Lockjaw’ featuring Kodak Black, ‘Figure It Out’ featuring Kanye West & Nas, ‘No Shopping’ featuring Drake and lastly ‘2 Times’. With ‘Lockjaw’ and ‘Figure It Out’ being featured on his ‘Wave Gods’ mixtape, we received the other singles by way of OVO Sound Radio.
MC4 is three years after his debut album ‘Excuse My French’ and in a recent interview with XXL magazine for their first digital issue, French spoke on why he waiting so long to release this album.
Here is what Montana had to say;
“I didn’t feel like I was ready to drop an album as far as my label situation,” French explains. “It’s just the timing didn’t feel right after I dropped my first album. I felt like me just working on projects with Jay Z, with Kanye, with Miley Cyrus, with J. Lo, with will.i.am, just with everybody… Chris Brown on ‘Loyal,’ just all the things that I’ve been doing just kept me right until I felt like my album was ready. And I felt like this album is ready. You know sometimes just because you have the opportunity to drop every six months or every year doesn’t mean you should drop.
MC4 is available for pre-order now and with the tracklist showcasing that the project is 14 tracks long and features the likes of Kanye West, Nas, Drake, Jeezy, A$AP Rocky, Beanie Sigel, Jadakiss, Styles P, Chinx & Max B. This is a star studded affair. 8 out of the 14 tracks with features offers up a balance of French Montana on his own but getting the love from his peers that he always a recipient of.
Will ‘MC4’ outdo ‘Excuse My French’? Content and numbers wise that is the goal for French and I hope to see him do so.
