It’s no secret that Dwight Howard’s time in Los Angeles did not end well. While he has often spoken about moving forward after leaving the Lakers in 2013, the center has not been able to shake off the way things ended.
Howard was back in LA on Sunday as his Hawks faced off against the Lakers. This time, it was the Lakers coming out on top, for their second win against Howard and the Hawks this season.
More notable than the results of the game, however, was what happened afterwards. As Howard exited the court to head to the locker room, he was met with multiple hecklers. One was particularly obscene and egregious, leading to the Hawks’ center confronting him and challenging him to a fight. That led to a Hawks staffer having to restrain the big man and force him inside.
It’s hard to fully blame Dwight Howard because it is a natural reaction. However, he has to be smarter in order to remove himself from these controversies. Not only does this add to his marred reputation, but it could also lead to the league office sending him a call. Confronting a fan is one of the worst actions a player could commit in the eyes of the NBA.
