If you didn’t believe it before, believe it now. Drake is winning. This time last week, many of us across the world found ourselves fully engulfed in the new release of Drake’s fourth studio album, Views. Being one of the most hyped and anticipated albums of the past several months, with the 20 track body of work finally available, Drake quickly became the center of plenty of discussions. As expected, fans took to iTunes, where the album was an exclusive for purchasing and streaming (Apple Music) and shelled out the cash to support the Hip-Hop force. Now, with one week passing, the numbers have rolled in and Drake has officially topped the one million mark with Views‘ first week sales, according to Hits Daily Double.
Drake’s Views (YMCMB/Republic) has just become the first album to top a million on one digital service in a big win not only for Apple Music but for all the players involved. The final tally has it at 1.07m SPS with nearly 300m streams, an overwhelming majority of them Apple’s.
Even further, the 300 million streams tops the new record that was most recently set by Beyonce’s chart-topping LEMONADE album. With physical copies for Views going on sale today, we can expect some solid numbers to flow in next week, too. Congratulations to Drake as he’ll officially top the Billboard Top 200.
