April is the gift that keeps on giving if you’re Drake or simply a fan of the the rapper. Riding the waves of success across the board, Drake is in a great position ahead of the release of his new studio album, Views From The 6, which will be in stores at the end of the month on April 29th. Unleashing two records, ‘Pop Style’ and ‘One Dance,’ just a few weeks ago, he now has even more to celebrate as he has officially landed his first No. 1 as a solo artists in the U.K.
Via Billboard:
Drake hit No. 1 as a guest artist with Rihanna early in 2011, on “What’s My Name” (Def Jam/Universal), but “One Dance” is his first U.K. chart champion in his own right. The track climbed 21-1 on the new survey, with combined sales of 72,000 copies in the sales week to last night, some 5,500 ahead of Sia‘s “Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle/RCA/Sony), which held at No. 2.
What’s even better is that Drake currently finds himself at No. 1 on the Billlboard Hot 100 thanks to Rihanna’s massive single, ‘Work.’ Looking ahead, as ‘One Dance’ sits in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 currently, the record just may follow suit and top the U.S. chart in the coming weeks. Sticking to the present, congratulations are definitely in order for Drake and his accomplishment.
