‘The Conjuring’ came out on top this week by earning $41 million at the box office this weekend. The film has received rave reviews and positive word of mouth which helped push it to the top.
Ryan Reynolds was scared off by the momentum of ‘The Conjuring’ as two of his movies underperformed. ‘Turbo’ came in at $21 million and earned $31 million after a 5-day weekend. The snail pace start at the box office could lead to a bomb for Dreamworks.
Reynolds other movie ‘R.I.P.D.’ was D.O.A. by pulling in a dismal $12 million. The film costs $130 million to make. It joins the ranks of ‘The Lone Ranger’, ‘Pacific Rim’ and ‘White House Down’ as major box office bombs.
‘The Wolverine’ is looking to steal the top spot next week when it hits theaters July 25.
