If you’re still alive, you can easily attest to the whirlwind that the past two days have been, whether you find yourself being a Beyonce fan or not. In a quick recap, the superstar unleashed a surprise music video and song by the name of ‘Formation’ on Saturday afternoon. Hailed as a new pro-Black anthem, many were left speculating and wondering if Beyonce would bring this record to life during her performance slot at Super Bowl 50’s halftime show. Putting those thoughts to rest, Queen Bey delivered her first rendition of the record during the halftime show and went forth to announce a brand new, worldwide stadium tour, “The Formation World Tour,” immediately after the conclusion of the halftime showing. Kicking of in late April, as with anything Beyonce related, the tour will be one of the most anticipated events of the Spring and Summer. Being one to always give back, whether publicly or privately without our knowledge, as noted in the press release associated with the tour, the singer will use the event as a means to assist the water crisis that is taking place in Flint, Michigan.
True to her life’s work of always giving back, fans will be given the opportunity to participate in Beyoncé’s #BeyGOOD initiative supporting local United Way programs and the continued work surrounding the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. United Way of Genesee County has been at the forefront of distributing thousands of filtration pitchers, faucet mount filters, replacement cartridges and truckloads of water to underserved populations to address immediate needs in Flint Michigan. They are also partnering with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to create a fund that will address long-term developmental, education, nutrition and health needs of the children affected by the Flint Water Crisis. One thing that’s evident, Beyonce is looking to make a powerful statement with her newly-birthed era. With little information available in terms of what will be her sixth solo studio album, we can place our bets that the LP will be larger than life.
