The infamous biopic of Tupac has been in the works for plenty of years now. Every other year the movie gains traction and the it is momentarily shelved before gaining traction again. The movie was recently shelved due to losing its director, John Singleton, the man everyone thought would be perfect for the project, given his history with Pac. Singleton left the movie because he felt the producers weren’t out to respect the legacy that Tupac created, but now Benny Boom has stepped up to the plate as the director.
You may know Benny Boom from his days as a video director for the videos in the early 00’s. Boom and the producers have until the end of the year to get the film in motion or they will lose the rights to the movie. If they happen to lose the rights to the film, Afeni Shakur, Pac’s mother, will gain the rights back to her sons legacy on film and can get the film off the ground in no time.
In the mean time, lets hope the producers will respect the legacy of Tupac, who played a major figure in Hip-Hop and in the lives of the everyday person. Boom shared some of his thoughts post signing on to direct the film on instagram and you can check that below. Stay tuned for more updates on the biopic.
