In 1998 R&B singers Brandy and Monica released their ultimate classic “The Boy Is Mine”. A couple of years later the song’s producer Rodney Jerkins better known as Darkchild announces that Jessie J and Ariana Grande are going to remake the track. Both of them have recently collaborated on “Bang Bang” and seem to enjoy working together.
The reason for this rather surprising project is the 20-year anniversary of Darkchild in music business for which the producer plans to release some new songs and remade classics. That’s why he also recruited Sam Smith to sing his version of Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”.
Darkchild told HDD:
Sam’s the truth. He has a great heart and he’s genuine. His music speaks for who he is. This is a project I’m really looking forward to.
