Rudolph, Peanuts, Frosty. We always see these this time of year. But more adult-oriented animation has its own selection of Christmas classics.
Here are five to check out this season.
American Dad: The Best Christmas Story Never Told
Taxi Driver is a much beloved movie, but just how important is it to American history? According to this episode, without it we’d be under Soviet rule. When brought back into the past to relive a Christmas memory, Stan instead runs off and inadvertently stops the film from being made, and then has to do it himself.
Futurama: X-Mas Story
Something you might find in a more family-friendly entry: John Goodman as Santa Claus. Something you won’t: Santa Claus is a murderous robot bent on punishing the naughty list. Out on Christmas Eve, Fry and Leela find themselves in danger while Bender pretends to be homeless for some free booze.
The PJs: How the Super Stoled Christmas
It wouldn’t be Christmas without something in stop-motion, would it? In this Eddie Murphy show, Thurgood wants to get Muriel a computer but for the extra money has to work for the pawn shop as a repo man. The tenants soon become victims of a Grinch-esque heist.
Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park
As the title makes obvious, this a Jurassic Park spoof where Morty is shrunk and sent by Rick to investigate a theme park inside a human body. Meanwhile, the rest of the family spend a tech-free Christmas with some shocking revelations. John Oliver and Dana Carvey guest star.
The Simpsons: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire
Where it all began; the very first Simpsons episode on its own. The story of how Santa’s Little Helper joined the family, Christmastime is rough on them, as Mr. Burns takes away Homer’s bonus and what money they do have needs to be spent on Bart’s tattoo removal procedure.
